Mná Spóirt: Croí is Anam

A three part series in which Aoife Ní Chaiside traces the progression made by women in all areas sport. Renowned female sports stars featured include Dame Mary Peters, Katie Taylor, Sonia O’Sullivan and Derval O’Rourke.
 

Programme 1
In the first episode, Aoife meets football and camogie dual star, Rena Buckley, and discusses the values at the heart of team sports. Aoife finds out more about the 20×20 campaign to increase the visibility of women’s sports.

Programme 2
Aoife meets Paralympic silver medallist, discus thrower Niamh McCarthy and sprinter Patience Jumbo Gula to find out what drives women in individual sports to achieve greatness, often at great personal cost.

Programme 3
In the final episode, Aoife explores coaching in women’s sports and how they are sustained at grassroots level, meeting Eimear Considine of the Irish rugby team and Olympic gold medal-winning pentathlete, Mary Peters.
