Ceol ón Chlann – Series 3

This is a documentary series that offers a fresh insight into the heritage of various Irish musical families, their legacy and their continuing significance in modern Ireland’s musical tapestry.
Ceol ón Chlann explores five Irish musical families: Including The Gavin Family (Frankie Gavin),The McLaughlin’s (The Henry Girls) and The Moynihan Family – famous Irish musical families who have brought their music to the four corners of the world.

Programme 4: Na MacConnells – 20.08
The MacConnell brothers were born and reared in Ballinaleck, Co. Fermanagh and grew up in a very musical household. They were encouraged by their parents from an early age to pursue their love of music. Their father Sandy was a renowned musician in the 50’s.

Programme 5: Muintir Moynihan – 27.08
The Moynihan Family is well known on the Irish and international musical scene and their range of musical styles encompass classical, traditional and contemporary music. They have performed in prestigious venues around the world and have recorded extensively, both individually and collaboratively across the musical genres. Their parents had a huge interest in music. He was a primary school teacher, like their mum, and was also involved in the music scene in Cork, where he played the accordion and taught his kids tin whistle in the car while going to school.
